ISLAMABAD: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday granted a three-week transit bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against a surety of Rs50,000.

The bail has been secured by Imran Khan ahead of his another long march he plans to lead in the coming days to put pressure on the federal government to immediately announce holding of general election in the country.

Imran Khan had approached the PHC for protection against his possible arrest in case he marches to Islamabad again. The PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rasheed accepted the bail plea after Imran Khan appeared in the court to file his plea in a personal capacity. Media representatives and reporters were not allowed to attend the hearing of the bail plea as the court’s doors were closed when Imran Khan arrived.
