Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif embarked on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia today to participate in the “One Water Summit” in Riyadh.

This summit, a collaborative initiative by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, seeks to foster global cooperation and unified strategies for managing water resources through significant political commitments.

During the event, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable, focusing on the restoration and preservation of freshwater resources and wetlands, as well as adaptation strategies in the face of climate challenges. He will present Pakistan’s efforts in promoting water conservation, enhancing climate resilience, improving water quality, and protecting biodiversity while creating sustainable livelihoods.

Sharif will also emphasize the necessity of global partnerships to address the adverse effects of climate change, such as floods, unpredictable weather, and heat-induced stress on water ecosystems.

In addition to the Summit, the Prime Minister is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with leaders from participating nations. He is accompanied by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
