Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today commenced a two-day official trip to Azerbaijan, where high-level talks are expected to center on expanding cooperation in the crucial sectors of energy, defence, and trade.
The Prime Minister is undertaking the engagement at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev, to participate in events celebrating the 5th anniversary of Victory Day in the nation”s capital.
During his time in Baku, Sharif is scheduled to attend the official commemorative ceremonies and will hold a formal meeting with President Aliyev. Discussions between the two leaders will review the full scope of existing bilateral relations and are aimed at identifying new opportunities to deepen collaboration across diverse areas, including investment, education, and regional connectivity.
The visit is intended to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and to further advance the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share long-standing fraternal ties, which are rooted in common faith, history, and culture, as well as mutual trust.
The two countries also maintain close collaboration in various regional and international forums, such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), and the United Nations.
