Pakistan today strongly denounced the recent US attacks on Iran, following what it calls Israel’s “unprovoked and unjustified aggression.”
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed this condemnation in a telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian . Sharif offered condolences for the loss of life and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran.
The Prime Minister voiced worry over the U.S. targeting of facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, labeling the action a grave breach of international law and the IAEA Statute.
While acknowledging Iran’s right to self-defense under the UN Charter, Sharif urged a swift return to diplomatic discussions as the sole viable solution. He pleaded for immediate collective action to de-escalate tensions and offered Pakistan”s assistance in this endeavor.
President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s backing, thanking the Prime Minister, government, citizens, and military leadership for their solidarity.
Both leaders stressed the critical need for unity within the Muslim world at this time and agreed to maintain close communication.
