ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday once again urged the public to come out and defend the country’s sovereignty and democracy, saying that people are always the strongest defenders.
In a tweet on Wednesday, he urged the people to come out at this critical juncture and play their role. “The people are always the strongest defenders of a country’s sovereignty and democracy,” tweeted Prime Minister Imran. “It is the people who must come out and defend against this latest and biggest assault on Pakistan’s sovereignty and democracy by a foreign power through local collaborators- our Mir Jafars and Mir Sadiqs,” said the Prime Minister.
Pakistan is going through a political and constitutional crisis emerged on April 3 after the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri disallowed voting on the Opposition’s no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, deeming it “unconstitutional”.
Consequently, President Dr Arif Alvi dissolved the National Assembly on the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the same day. The matter is now subjudice before the Supreme Court, which has to decide whether the Deputy Speaker’s ruling was unconstitutional or otherwise.
