The Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz (PMLN) parliamentary party, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, strongly condemned what it termed India’s unprovoked war imposed on Pakistan, while paying tribute to the country’s armed forces for their effective response during Operation Bunyan Mursus.

The meeting expressed sorrow over the targeting of innocent children, women, civilians, and mosques in the ongoing hostilities, and paid homage to the martyrs. Acknowledging the sacrifices made by the military, the forum lauded the bravery of the armed forces for breaking the enemy’s momentum during operations on May 6, 7, and 10.

Tributes were also extended to General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and intelligence agencies for their role in national defence.

The party praised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for providing strategic guidance to the federal government during what was described as a critical national juncture. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was commended for steering the country away from economic default, ensuring stability, and displaying leadership under wartime conditions. His measured and timely decisions, despite continued provocations from India, were acknowledged as reflective of political maturity.

A formal proposal to confer the highest military rank of Field Marshal on COAS General Asim Munir was presented, with congratulations extended to him and the military leadership at large.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also recognised for her timely administrative decisions and coordination of public services, including mobilising institutions and ensuring medical care for the injured.

The meeting appreciated the unity demonstrated by the nation, the resolve of the people, and the cohesion among political parties. The media’s role in countering disinformation and exposing Indian falsehoods was also acknowledged.

Condemnation was expressed over the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, with prayers offered for the martyrs and their families.
