ISLAMABAD: Members of Gilgit-Baltistan Council called on Adviser to Prime Minister on Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Kashmir Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira here in Islamabad on Thursday.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to GB-Council, development projects and problems faced by the people were discussed in detail. Matters related to the ongoing hydel projects and making Skardu airport to international airport also came under discussion in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Qamar Zaman Kaira said Ministry of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs will continue extending every possible cooperation for resolving problems faced by people of the area.
Members of the GB-Council said establishment of province is old demand of the people. They demanded that authority of the GB-Council should be clear.
Qamar Zaman Kaira assured them that mechanism will soon be evolved for ending uncertainty about the council affairs. He said strategy will be evolved with the consultation of provincial government and other stake holders.
He said PPP government gave status of province to GB in 2009 and now every possible help will be rendered to give rights to people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said working relationship between Federal and Provincial governments will be improved further and vowed to perform his duties above political affiliation.
