GWADAR:Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle 3000kg hashish.

According to PMSA information, in a joint intelligence based counter narcotics operation conducted by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and Pakistan Customs Preventive smuggling of narcotics, seven smugglers were apprehended in the North Arabian Sea and approximately 3000 kilogram hashish was recovered from a stateless boat.

The value of narcotics in international market was estimated to be Rs 450 million. The seized narcotics along with smugglers were handed over to Pakistan Customs for further investigation and legal proceedings including investigation of involvement of any of the apprehended individuals in other anti-state activities and completion of legal formalities.

According to a statement, successful operation by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and Pakistan Customs resulting in seizure of narcotics is a testament to the fact that PMSA remains vigilant and committed in preventing use of Pakistani waters for any unlawful act. Pakistan Maritime Security Agency will continue to shoulder its national obligations and responsibility to establish lawful order at sea.
