During the Islamabad district administration’s ongoing anti-begging campaign, the federal capital police conducted various anti-begging operations and arrested 26 beggars from various areas of the city on Wednesday.
Eleven beggars were arrested in the Blue Area, while six professional beggars were taken into custody from the Khanna police station limits. Seven professional beggars were also arrested from Sector G-13 and sent to jail. Two beggars were arrested from Sector F-7.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon has appealed to the citizens to cooperate in the anti-begging campaign. He said the elimination of begging from the city is only possible with the cooperation of citizens.
He said after identifying beggars, the citizens can contact the 24/7 helpline at the DC Office.
