(POLITICAL): AWP to hold ‘Sindh Awami March’ on 5th Dec against PIDA

KARACHI:The Awami Workers Party (AWP) on Monday rejected Pakistan Islands Development Authority (PIDA) Ordinance, 2020, and announced a power show ‘Sindh Awami March’ on December 5th 2020.

While addressing a press conference at party office in Karachi, AWP Sindh president Bakshal Thalho, along with senior vice president Yousuf Masti Khan and Javed Rajper, said that more than 2.5 million fishermen would be affected due to the construction at Sindh’s Islands.

“Karachi would face flood after the elimination of mangroves trees from those Islands,” he said. “If multinational companies will carry out their cement development at Sindh’s Islands, then sea life would be heavily affected and the environment of the sea would also be affected,” he said.

Thalho said the labor class was being oppressed and destroyed through new liberal policy. “Almost 80 percent of peasants are deprived of agricultural land due to not having agricultural reforms in the country,” Thalho said.

He also said that private education systems had snatched the right of education from peasants and labor class of the country even though the government was not providing basic facilities to those students who got admission in education institutions. “Students are not given the right of union in this country,” he added.

He also said instead of offering jobs on merit basis, the Public Service Commission also offers jobs on the condition of heavy amounts which has destroyed the life of youth of the country. He said people were going missing if they talked against atrocities and injustices. Yousif Masti Khan said there was a need for restoration of democracy in the country because every person had been deprived of fundamental rights.
