ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has accepted the resignation of Governor Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.
According to a press release issued by the President Secretariat here on Saturday, the President also appointed Speaker of Gilgit Baltistan Assembly Syed Amjad Ali as Acting Governor till appointment of a new Governor.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his heartiest congratulations to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the 9th anniversary of assuming reins of Qatar government.
In a tweet on Saturday, the Prime Minister said Qatar is making massive strides under his leadership and the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar remain excellent.
Meanwhile, in another tweet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz and his team for introducing a comprehensive Local Government Act 2022.
He said an effective, efficient and autonomous local government system is key to delivering on citizens’ expectations. He said it will help produce local leadership.
