President visits Nowshera district

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi visited Nowshera district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday.

During the visit, the district administration briefed the President about the flood on Mardan bridge and told him that around one hundred and fifty thousand people were affected by the flood in Nowshera area and 100 relief camps have been set up to help them. They said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has doubled the aid amount for the flood victims. The President was informed that due to timely notification of the flood, the population was moved to a safe place in time.

Speaking on the occasion, the President asked the provincial government to accelerate the process of rehabilitation of flood victims and reconstruction of houses. He stressed on necessary steps for helping the flood-affected people. Dr Arif Alvi appealed to the nation to help the flood victims with open hearts. He commended the role of armed forces, civilian institutions and welfare organizations for providing relief to the flood hit people.
