President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday issued a strong call for national unity and coordinated policy-making, identifying them as vital components for confronting Pakistan’s contemporary security challenges during an address at the National Defence University (NDU).

The President delivered his remarks while speaking to attendees of the 27th National Security Workshop (NSW-27), a flagship NDU initiative. The course brought together a diverse group including lawmakers, senior civil and military officials, academics, and representatives from civil society.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the workshop is structured to deepen the delegates’ understanding of the complex interplay between various elements of national power within the framework of Comprehensive National Security.

President Zardari praised the commitment shown by the attendees in strengthening national security awareness and congratulated them on the successful completion of the programme. He highlighted the paramount importance of informed leadership in navigating the nation’s difficulties.

The NDU’s National Security Workshop is widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost platforms for encouraging national-level dialogue. It aims to enhance institutional capacity and cultivate a whole-of-nation approach to security matters.

Concluding the event, the President formally recognized the achievements of the attendees by distributing certificates among the graduating participants.
