Prime Minister Imran Khan chairs meeting on law and order in Karachi

Islamabad, September 16, 2018 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired meeting on law and order at Karachi today. The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Commander 5 Corp Lt. Gen. Hamayun Aziz, Chief Secretary Sindh Maj. (R) Azam Sulaiman Khan, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Sualeh Farooqi, DG Rangers Maj. Gen. Muhammad Saeed, IG Sindh Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, Secretary Home Abdul Qadir Qazi and senior officers. IG Police Sindh briefed the meeting regarding law and order situation.

DG Rangers briefed about the threat assessment and role of Rangers in the Karachi operation. It was informed that overall 90% reduction occurred in the rate of heinous crimes since start of Karachi operation. The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation in the province with special focus on peace and security in Karachi. Prime Minister Imran Khan observed that overall situation in Karachi has improved significantly due to the devotion and sacrifices of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Law and order is high priority agenda for the government because without peace and stability economic potential of the country cannot be harnessed, the Prime Minister stated, Karachi is financial capital of Pakistan; Federal government will continue to offer full support to provincial government for law and order maintenance, further stated the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister reiterated that there should be better coordination among the agencies at federal and provincial levels to maintain peace and security across the country. The Prime Minister appreciated the role of Rangers, police and other law enforcement agencies in restoring peace in Karachi.
