The extensive upgrade of the Islamabad-Murree Expressway is now in its concluding phase and is set to be formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister in the near future, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced on Wednesday. The statement came during a site visit to assess the final development works on the critical artery for tourism.

Speaking to officials, the Minister conveyed his contentment with the substantial progress, commending the National Highway Authority (NHA) for elevating the expressway to international standards. He stated that the modernized route is designed to provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who journey to Murree annually.

Key enhancements to the expressway include the installation of a comprehensive, state-of-the-art lighting system to improve nighttime visibility and safety. Additionally, Abdul Aleem Khan confirmed that the Motorway Police will be deployed along the thoroughfare to enforce traffic regulations and provide assistance to commuters.

To better accommodate travelers, newly constructed and fully equipped rest areas have been established along the route. These facilities are intended to offer essential amenities and comfort, making the journey more convenient and family-friendly.

The Minister emphasized that this initiative underscores the government’s dedication to delivering world-class infrastructure. He noted that the project is a vital component of a larger strategy to promote tourism development, stimulate economic growth, and ensure public convenience through efficient and secure road connectivity.
