PSA dossier cites ridiculous charges against Yasin Malik

Srinagar, March 14, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the grounds for detention of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik under the draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) include references to some old cases, some fresh FIRs and statements like ‘he openly challenges Kashmir’s accession to India.’

The PSA detention dossier prepared by police and signed by the Srinagar district magistrate cites ridiculous charges like Muhammad Yasin Malik Malik openly challenges the so-called accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India and strives hard for securing freedom from India. “From the year 2016 till date he has been much active in sabotaging the peace and public tranquillity of the” territory, the dossier said.

“From 2017, Malik has continued to remain glued to the anti-national and secessionist activities,” the dossier pointed out and added that: “Malik is instrumental in constituting the Joint Resistance Leadership to portray India as a colonial and occupational force by inserting the word resistance in it.” Besides, the dossier falsely accused him of being involved in killing of Indian Air Force personnel and abduction of Mufti Sayeed’s daughter Rubiya Sayeed in 1990s.

The JKLF chief was detained on February 22 and lodged in Kothibagh police station in Srinagar. On March 6, he was booked under PSA, which empowers the authorities to detain a person without a trial for up to six months. He has been shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in a statement paid rich tributes to martyred leaders, Fayaz Ahmad Dar and Mehraj-ud-Din Usman on their anniversary.
