PSCA to monitor Muharram processions

LAHORE: A high-level Muharram ul Haram security meeting held at Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) under the chairmanship of MD Rao Sardar Ali Khan, here on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, DIG Operations Sajid Kayani, SSP Operations Muhammad Nadeem, SP Dolphin Rashid Hidayat, Operations Commander PPIC3 SP Muhammad Asim Jasra and other relevant officers. The Chief Operating Officer Punjab Safe Cities Authority DIG Muhammad Kamran Khan briefed the meeting on Muharram ul Haram security arrangements.

The MD PSCA Additional IG Rao Sardar Ali Khan while presiding over the meeting said that Punjab Safe Cities Authority has started security arrangements for Muharram. The authority will also install more cameras to monitor Muharram processions wherever required.

Chief Operating Officer Punjab Safe Cities Authority DIG Muhammad Kamran Khan said that monitoring of moharram processions will be ensured through surveillance cameras installed by Punjab Safe Cities Authority across the metropolitan city. More than 600 cameras will continue to monitor the procession routes from different parts of Lahore. In order to make the security more effective, the safe city will also conduct a survey of the procession routes in the collaboration with Lahore Police, he added.

It was told that the safe city will install 50 more cameras on procession routes to ensure better coverage. PSCA will also monitor the main Ashura Procession with his mobile command vehicle. More than 200 Police Communication Officers from Punjab Police Integrated Command Control and Communication Center will be on duty in 3 shifts throughout this period. The members of others collaborating law enforcement agencies will also be on duty in the IC3 during Moharram ul Haram.
