PTI asks Sindh govt to unveil strategy about lockdown before April 14

KARACHI:Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi has asked the provincial government of Sindh to make and announce its strategy about the lockdown before April 14, and the lockdown should be relaxed after following the code of conduct regarding the coronavirus disease.

Addressing a press conference here Wednesday in the Karachi Press Club (KPC), flanked by PTI Central Vice President Haleem Adil Sheikh, PTI Karachi president Khurram Sher Zaman, MNA Aftab Siddiqui and secretary PTI Karachi Jamal Siddiqui, he requested the Sindh government to relax the lockdown. He said strategy in this regard should be formulated well before April 14.

He suggested that market hours should be increased to cope with the expected rush of buyers in local bazaars. He said on one day cloth shops should be allowed to open and on other days all other shops should be allowed to do business.

He regretted that the Sindh government has not discharged its responsibilities in the wake of coronavirus crisis. He said the provincial government promised to give ration to the poor, but it did not fulfill this promise. He said the K Electric has become an anti-people company and it is harassing consumers by sending them heavy average bills.

He said the PPP has destroyed everything. He urged the Sindh government to give consideration to the suggestions of the PTI. He asked Murad Ali Shah to stop amassing money now and instead take steps to serve people. He said poor people are dying of hunger. He warned that the hungry people would soon take to streets. He said diseases are knocking doors of people.

He asked till when the PPP government would keep the province of Sindh closed. He said the megacity which runs the economy of whole Pakistan has already been facing its own economy dying. He said workers are rendered jobless from factories. He asked to allow factories to work, following due precautions about the coronavirus.

Haleem Adil Sheikh that his party had suggested to formulate a proper strategy, but the Sindh government did not follow our advice. He said the Sindh government abruptly closed down schools and halls. Now this government is not even able to distribute ration. He asked where the promised 2 million bags of ration went. He said the PPP is showing dishonesty even during coronavirus crisis. He said the salaries of assembly members and government employees were deducted but nobody knows where these funds have gone.

Haleem Adil said the situation is Sindh is creeping to a civil war. He asked if the Sindh government wants that people should raise arms. He said hungry people would soon hold the rulers from collar. He said people of Sindh would not forgive the provincial government if relief is not provided to them.

MNA Aftab Siddiqui said that in some other countries thousands of people have died but these countries have not closed down their routine life. He said in Sindh province instead of relaxing the lockdown, the government is further tightening it. He urged the government to take heeds and relax the lockdown.

MPA Khurram Sher Zaman said the planning of Murad Ali Shah regarding the lockdown is poor. He said the government and its ministers are seen nowhere. He said hospitals do not have kits to test coronavirus. He said doctors are not given PPEs and hospital staff is utterly unsafe. He said coronavirus cases amongst doctors are worrisome. He asked where the promised 2million ration bags of Sindh government are. He asked the Sindh government to end cruelties with the people of this province. He asked Murad Ali Shah should formulate a strategy about coronavirus and PTI is fully ready to help him.
