ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday summoned in person the representative of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on July 20 next for the hearing of a contempt petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for not de-notifying PML-N MPA Kashif Chaudhry despite disqualification, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also sought arguments from the petitioner on being the aggrieved party on next hearing, and it also issued notice to PML-N MPA Kashif Chaudhry from Bahawalnagar for the next hearing.

Acting IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the case. Faisal Chaudhry, lawyer for the PTI, adopted before the court that Kashif Chaudhry had been disqualified by the IHC for possessing a fake degree. “The appeal of Kashif Chaudhry was also rejected by the Supreme Court,” he said.

“Despite the disqualification of the MPA, the election commission did not de-notify him,” he stated. “The court should initiate contempt proceedings against the election commission,” he demanded. The court adjourned further hearing of the case till July 20 next.
