ISLAMABAD:The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the raids and harassment of its social media activists on the directives of the incumbent government.

The petition was filed by a PTI’s former Member of the National Assembly Ali Nawaz Awan, making the interior secretary, Islamabad and Punjab IGs, FIA chief and head of Cyber Crime Wing as respondents. The petition stated that the residences of the PTI social media activists were illegally being raided and they were being harassed on the directives of the current government.

The petition further stated that fake cases were being registered against the PTI social media activists. It said the freedom of expression was a fundamental right of every citizen, which could be not be denied and usurped by anyone. The petition prayed the court to restrain the government from such illegal acts.
