ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday challenged in the Supreme Court (SC) the schedule announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for making new demarcations ahead of next general elections in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In its petition, in which the party made the federal government, the ECP, secretary ECP, Bureau of Statistics, provincial chief secretaries and secretary cabinet respondents, it argued that there was no need for making new delimitations until the next census. “Therefore, it is prayed to the apex court to not only declare the demarcations made on May 3, 2018 as ‘correct’ and ‘final’ but also declare the new schedule ‘unconstitutional’,” read the petition.

PTI, in its petition filed by its senior leader Asad Umar, requested the court to order the election commission and the secretary ECP to start making arrangements for holding next general elections in the country without any further delay.
