Pakistan TehreekeInsaf (PTI) Sindh Assembly members Muhammad Owais and Sajid Hussain Mir have submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly in which they condemned labeling of permanent Pakistani citizens as migrants. The resolution was submitted to the Secretary provincial Assembly of Sindh.

In their resolution, Muhammad Owais and Sajid Hussain Mir emphasized that every Pakistani citizen has the legal right to reside in any region of Pakistan, in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan, which grants equal rights to all citizens. They further highlighted the Pakistani Citizenship Act of 1951, which ensures that all individuals residing in Pakistan before 1971 are considered Pakistani citizens.

The resolution categorically states that no Bengali, Bihari, Burmese, or Afghan who holds permanent Pakistani citizenship can be labeled as a migrant. Anyone possessing valid Pakistani citizenship should not be referred to as a migrant or considered a foreigner, as this is against the law.

The resolution strongly condemns any discourse that refers to Pakistani citizens as “foreigners or migrants” or suggests deportation of those who hold legitimate Pakistani citizenship. The Assembly demands that all permanent citizens with valid identification be recognized as Pakistani citizens, and that all citizens be granted equal rights under the Constitution of Pakistan.
