The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) today held a public hearing regarding the proposed revenue requirements of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) for the fiscal year 2026-27, which sparked widespread attention and discussion.
In its revised submission dated April 28, 2026, SSGCL proposed a total average prescribed price of Rs. 6,825.30 per MMBTU for its indigenous natural gas activities. This includes Rs. 1,721.47 per MMBTU for interest on Gas Development Surcharge (GDS) liabilities and Rs. 2,920.46 per MMBTU to cover the shortfall of previous financial years up to the fiscal year 2024-25.
Furthermore, the company proposed an amount of Rs. 199.03 per MMBTU for the cost of supplying Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) for the upcoming financial cycle.
This hearing, which was open to all stakeholders including the general public, presented various perspectives and concerns to the regulatory body. These discussions are crucial as the final decision by OGRA regarding the pricing structure will be based on them.
The authority will issue its final decision on the matter in due course, which is expected to significantly impact both the industry and consumers.
