Punjab Chief Minister’s message on International Women’s Day

Lahore, March 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that respect to womenfolk is an integral part of our socio-cultural and religious norms. The rights which have been entrusted to the womenfolk by the religion of Islam cannot be imagined in the West.

In his message issued here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that womenfolk are around half of the total population in Pakistan and PTI is committed to give equal rights to them as no society could progress without including them in the process of progress and development. The past governments did not take any positive step to include the women in the national mainstream but the incumbent government is fully committed to proactively perform in this regard.

Solid steps are being taken to empower the womenfolk and the PTI government will fulfill this responsibility in the best of the manner. The women will be provided equal opportunities to excel in the practical field and they will be fully empowered as well. In this regard, the women living in backward areas would be socio-economically empowered and will be given ample opportunities to progress.

Various schemes will be introduced for providing the best educational and healthcare facilities to the women and new hospitals for mother and child and girls colleges will also be established. The working women hostels and daycare centers will also be arranged. He said that women’s role cannot be ignored in the socio-economic development of the country. Pakistani women are talented and hardworking who have proved their mettle in various sectors of life. Today, we should reiterate our commitment that different steps will be taken to protect the rights of the women in the society, he added.
