Punjab Govt frees departments from political pressure: CM

LAHORE:Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar said officers are posted purely on merit and police and administrative officials have been made totally independent to perform official duties.

In a statement, he said that officers are not ridiculed now nor pressurized. Regrettably, the self-respect of some officers was hurt in the past but government officials are totally independent today to perform their duties. He regretted the past government made postings by promoting the culture of personal likes and dislikes and added that disrespectful attitude with the officers was the favourite modus operandi of the past rulers.

He said undue interference was made in government matters in the past and merit was violated in officers posting while blowing one’s own trumpet. The past rulers weakened the departments through nepotism and culture of recommendations, he added.

Meanwhile, there is no pressure on officers in the performance of their duties and the independence available to officers is unprecedented. The PTI has freed the departments from political pressures and intervention. Due to it, officers performed their duties according to rules and supremacy of merit and transparency has been ensured at every level, the CM concluded.
