Punjab Ombudsman Office turns paperless: Dr. Umar Saif

Islamabad, October 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Office of the Punjab Ombudsman has been made totally paperless using Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB)’s e-filing system by the Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif and the Ombudsman Punjab, Najam Saeed in an inaugural ceremony to formally launch the Electronic Filing Office Automation System (e-FOAS) here today.

Dr. Umar Saif remarked regarding the technology introduced by PITB in the government offices to shift the conventional ways to digital process and said that with the help of this system files could be traced in real time while file marking, delays and file movement could be monitored easily. Once the data was digitized the officials responsible for delays could be made accountable in a transparent manner as every move could be tracked and monitored if any botch happens and there would be no chance of loss of important official record because the data would be stored and protected in most secured three tire system, he added.

Umar Saif further informed that all the government processes like noting files and other paper documents activity have been computerized and made paperless by PITB in the Punjab. Ombudsman’s office being the 7th largest office in Punjab has computerized, scanned and added 10 years of their record to their system with the assistance of PITB’s assistance by their own IT team.

The officials could easily access all the files from yesteryears in no time and thus making the work more efficient while Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), DIG Police Operations were amongst many more offices in Lahore made paperless by PITB including a significant and worth mentioning achievement of making paperless the Water and Sanitation Services Company, Mardan, KPK, which was using this system successfully for the last one year, he stated.

Najam Saeed Ombudsman Punjab said that the benefits of the system would be soon extended to the 36 sub offices in the province and acknowledged the support and assistance extended by PITB officials under the leadership of Dr. Umar Saif. The MD Water and Sanitation Services Company KPK Nasir Ghafoor Khan lauded PITB’s free assistance in automation of the system in their department to run paperless operations. Later on both sides exchanged mementos of their respective organization to appreciate the efforts made by the officials involved in this activity.
