Punjab safe city project to be launched in every division: Usman Buzdar

Lahore, September 12, 2018 (PPI-OT): Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the head office of Punjab safe city authority at Qurban Lines as well as the central control room set up in civil secretariat for monitoring of security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. He inspected different sections of Punjab safe city authority. He was also given briefing about the security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram at the central control room. Talking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that maintenance of peaceful atmosphere during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram should be ensured at every cost and best security arrangements should be made better than the previous years.

The condition of route and time for Muharram processions and majalis should be ensured and peace committees should proactively work to promote religious harmony at the grassroots. He said that army and rangers have been called in to provide assistance in security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. The processions and majalis will be monitored through CCTV cameras and strict action will be taken against provocative speeches.

Similarly, no compromise will be made on the publication and distribution of objectionable material and indiscriminate action will be taken on any violation. Implementation of code of conduct will be ensured at every cost. He said that law enforcement agencies should remain fully vigilant to ensure maintenance of peace. Later, Chief Minister visited the safe city authority and appreciated the performance of staff working there.

He said that steps taken to eradicate crime by utilizing latest technology are need of the hour and added that introduction of positive changes through dexterous use of IT technology in the police system is also imperative. Latest technology would be helpful to change the archaic thana culture. PTI fully believes in the rule of law and improving the police system is our priority agenda. He said that scope of Punjab safe city will be extended to divisional headquarters. Provincial law minister Raja Basharat, chief secretary, IG police and other officials were also present.
