Quetta: Quetta-Karachi main highway, which had been blocked by the enraged protesters of Sheikh Mengal tribe for 21 hours, has been restored on Tuesday for traffic after successful parleys held between protesters and district administration, Khuzdar.
According to reports, tribesmen of Sheikh Mengal tribe blocked Quetta-Karachi main highway near Wadh area of district Khuzdar, demanding from the authorities to apprehend assassins involved in the assassination of two tribesmen of Sheikh Mengal tribe. Quetta-Karachi main highway remained blocked for 21 hours in Wadh area of district Khuzdar, creating thereby severe hardships for passengers travelling on the highway. Highway was opened for traffic after Deputy Commissioner, Khuzdar, Major (Retd) Ilyas Kibzai held parleys with the protesters.
It is pertinent to mention that two tribesmen of Sheikh Mengal tribe namely Gahoor Khan son of Muhammad Amin and Ali Ahmed son of Ali Shair, residents of Sarachu, Wadh were gunned down the previous day by the unidentified gunmen in Wadh area of Khuzdar. Against the incident, tribesmen of Sheikh Mengal blocked Quetta-Karachi highway.
