Rallies staged in Shikarpur against fake domiciles

SHIKARPUR:Like other parts of the Sindh province, a large number of citizens, students, and social organizations took out rallies and held a demonstration in protest against the issuance of bogus domiciles to the people of other provinces, here on Sunday.

The rallies were led by Advocate Zaffar Ali Channa, Zahid Bhambhro, Imran Mangi and others. The protesters while taking placards and banners in their hands marched through city roads and gathered at Shikarpur Press Club where they staged a demonstration and raised slogans against the fake domiciles.

They said the shameful practice of fake domiciles had deprived Sindhi youths of admissions in educational institutions, jobs in civil services, competitive examinations, special political posts, armed forces, private companies like Thar Coal, PARCO and other important sectors.

The protesters further said that it was a conspiracy against natives of Sindh that allowed non-natives to get domiciles and seize control of lucrative positions in the province and deprived locals of their rights.

They demanded of authorities concerned to reject the fake domiciles of the people who originally belong to other provinces and de-notify their jobs given to them on the basis of such fake papers without any delay and the legal action must be taken against the involved. They further demanded of the authorities to ensure the transparency in domiciles.

The protesters alleged that domiciles were being issued on bribe by the revenue officials especially the Deputy Commissioners belonging to other provinces. They threatened that the protest movement would be increased and they would block the highway roads and approach the court if the fake domiciles and PRCs would not be rejected at earliest.

Earlier, a meeting was held at Shaheed Qayyum Mangi House Shikarpur for planning a joint serious way forward to discourage the trend of fake domiciles. The meeting was attended by youth, journalists, citizens, representatives of civil society, and city organizations. They shared their views and formed a committee which will verify the CNICs and domiciles of suspected outsiders.
