PESHAWAR:The moon of Holy month Ramazan was sighted in Pakistan on Saturday evening; therefore, April 3, 2002 will be the first day of Ramadan, Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced.
A meeting regarding the moon sighting was presided over by Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad in Peshawar, which announced that the moon of the holy month had been sighted in the country. The meeting was also attended among others by representatives of different authorities of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Met Department and SUPARCO.
The committee chairman congratulated the nation over Ramazan moon sighting. It may be noted that Pakistan Meteorological Department in March had announced in a statement that that there is a possibility that the Ramazan moon might be sighted on April 2 that came true today.
