Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Monday said that unabated hunting of rare birds and animals in Balochistan had brought them to the brink of extinction.
These views were expressed by him while chairing a progress review meeting regarding protection of wildlife and overhauling of Forest and Wildlife Department, Balochistan. He said that there were reports about the hunting of rare birds in some areas of the province.
Expressing concern over the hunting of rare birds and animals, he directed the concerned authorities to form a committee comprising tribal elders and local tribes for community monitoring besides taking strict legal action against those involved in illegal hunting. He said that issues regarding restoration of international funds for protected areas and climate change would be taken up with the authorities of concerned federal Ministry.
Giving briefing regarding measures taken by Forest and Wildlife Department for preservation of Forests and wildlife Department, Secretary, Forest and Wildlife Department Balochistan, Noor Ahmed Pirkani said that three accused had of late been been arrested on the charge of hunting Suleman Markhor in the Takatu mountain range.
Meanwhile, 1500 patients, including women and children, were diagnosed in one day free medical camp arranged under the auspices of Markazi Muslim League district Quetta in Musa colony Sariab Road area of Quetta on Monday.
According to reports, Markazi Muslim League district Quetta arranged one day free medical camp at Musa Colony Sariab Road area of the province. 1500 patients, including women and children, were diagnosed in the free medical camp and patients were provided with free of cost medicines.
