Re-engagement of retired employees injustice with youth: NC

Srinagar, October 03, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has taken strong exception to the engagement of retired engineers on contractual basis by the authorities.

The NC Member of Parliament Hasnain Masoodi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the measure of re-engaging retired employees would put such qualified engineers at greater disadvantage. “It is an injustice to those who have equipped themselves with skills required for these jobs, but the government is hell-bent to alienate them through such imprudent measures,” he deplored.

Such unjust arrangements, he added, will further widen the unemployment gap in the territory and will aggravate the predicaments of unemployed youth whose future is already in lurch due to poor requirement process and absence of any viable private sector.

Masoodi said that the Indian government and the incumbent IIOJK administration have little to offer apart from rhetoric and photo-ops. He added that the much hype created by the authorities on creating job extravaganza was yet to fructify and generate results.

Demanding the rollback of re-engagement of retired officials, he said that the number of unemployed degree and diploma holders in engineering was in the thousands. Impressing upon the authorities to shun the policy of re-engaging retired government employees, he held that such shortsighted arrangement will only add to the mounting woes of youth in Jammu, Kashmir, Pir Panjal, and Chenab areas.
