Reform in women police is inevitable: Irum Khalid

General Press Release

Karachi, August 25, 2016 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Women Development Department Ms. Irum Khalid visited the Women Police Station District South Karachi and went around different sections of Police Station and met with staff.

SP City Shehla Qureshi briefed Special Assistant regarding the working, performance, functions, issues and problems of women police stations in Karachi.

She informed that Sindh Women Police is facing huge shortage of staff and other basic facilities including transport, office buildings and allowances.

Ms Irum Khalid said that she was very disappointed to see the pathetic condition of this Police Station Building and shortage of facilities. This system must have to be reformed decades ago but unfortunately no one paid attention towards it. She assured that she will take up this matter with Chief Minister Sindh and added that it will be resolved soon.

“Women police officers and constables should be posted in every police station of Sindh. Only 5 women police stations for Karachi are not enough,” she added.

She also said that Sindh Women Development Department is always ready to work in collaboration with Sindh Police. We have women complaint cell and media center which can be helpful to solve the problems of women in Sindh.

On this occasion SHO Women Police Station District South Hajira Usman, Investigation Officer Shagufta Majeed and others were present.
