Islamabad, February 20, 2019 (PPI-OT): Regional Director of UNESCO based in Jakarta Dr. Shahbaz Khan called on Mr. Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister for Water Resources in Islamabad on Wednesday. Matters relating to water scarcity and water issues were discussed in the meeting. It was discussed that work on a roadmap for water secure Pakistan to lead Pakistan from being a water deficit to water surplus country needs to be carried out on priority basis.
Under the United Nations umbrella, valuable contributions will be made from UNESCO’s International Hydrological Program (Present in 162 countries) towards accelerating achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water and National Water Policy. Chairman Federal Flood Commission, Mr. Ahmad Kamal was also present in the meeting who is deputed conveyor of the National taskforce to prepare Roadmap for Water Secure Pakistan.
