Relations with Russia remains a high priority for foreign policy of Pakistan: Rana Tanveer

Islamabad, April 18, 2018 (PPI-OT): Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology in Moscow with Heads of Ministries and departments of Science and Technology of Russian Federation and other SCO Members States conveyed heartiest congratulations on resounding victory of the President Vladimir Putin in the election. Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology opined that relations with Russia remains a high priority for the foreign policy of Pakistan. He urged that there is consensus in Pakistan on the need to further strengthen and diversify our relation with Russia.

While, in another meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Olga Yuryevna, Russian Minister for Education and Science, Federal Minister for Science and Education said that Pakistan wants to forge a long term and broad based partnership with Russia, especially in the field of trade, energy, defence, security, peaceful use of energy, culture and education. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology recalled that first ever meeting of Chairman State Duma to Pakistan in December 2017 was a milestone in our relations with Russia.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology hailed that strong partnership between Pakistan and Russia would be helpful in promoting peace and stability in South Asia. He also thanked the Russian counterparts for the offer of 16 educational scholarship to Pakistani Students by Russia. Federal Minister further elaborated to explore the possibility of establishing joint Study Programmes in numerous Universities of Pakistan. Rana Tanveer Hussain, proposed Her Excellency Ms. Olga Yuryevba, Russian Minister for Education and Science to establish Pakistan-Russia Centre for Science and Technology Cooperation in Pakistan. He also proposed to establish a common fund of SCO for development of Science and Technology to support those countries who are less developed in the fields of Science and Technology.
