Srinagar, September 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League have demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails of the territory and India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Chairman Ghulam Nabi Waseem and General Secretary Abdul Hameed visited Sopore and met Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, who was released from illegal detention a few days ago.
Speaking on the occasion, Tehreek-e-Istiqlal leaders congratulated Farooq Tawheedi on his release. They said that all attempts by India to subjugate the freedom-loving Kashmiri people by force would fail. They said arrests, detentions and other brutal tactics by India cannot force the Kashmiris to give up their freedom struggle.
They said that many Kashmiri detainees including APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo and Ghulam Qadir Butt were suffering from various ailments. They demanded release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.
Meanwhile, the JKPL in a statement issued in Srinagar said, thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists, young boys, journalists and ordinary people are languishing in jails under fictitious charges. It said that neither hearing was being conducted in the cases of these detainees nor any legal proceedings initiated to provide them the medical relief. The JKPL called for the unconditional release of all detained Kashmiris from jails and the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, from house arrest.
The Jammu and Kashmir Social Justice League leader Fatima Jan in a party meeting also demanded immediate release of all Kashmiri political prisoners including Hurriyat leaders Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi. She also hailed government of Pakistan for releasing a dossier on the massive human rights violations by India in IIOJK and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet’s statement on Kashmir. She appealed to the world community to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per the UN resolutions.
