Representatives of PILDAT and members of Young Political Fellowship Programme meet Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla

Islamabad, March 26, 2019 (PPI-OT):Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla while meeting representatives of PILDAT and members of Young Political Fellowship Programme has urged the Young Political Fellows to get more involved in the political process as the future of the country will be determined by the politicians of the future. Representatives of PILDAT and members of Young Political Fellowship Programme visited the Parliament House on Monday and were briefed about the Role and Functions of the Senate.

The participants were given a comprehensive briefing about the Senate as the balancer of the two Houses of Parliament by giving equal representation to all the federating units. Deputy Chairman Senate along with the officials from Senate Secretariat explicated upon the complex electoral process of Senate membership, the accountability and oversight function of the Parliament, the role of Senate in money bill and other Parliamentary instruments.

The briefing was followed by an interactive question answer session in which the participants made use of the presence of Senate leadership and took insights into the law making process, work of committees and efficacy of the system. The visit concluded with a visit to the Gali-e-Dastoor and the Senate Museum.
