Restrictions in Srinagar to prevent demos

Srinagar, January 13, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have imposed restrictions in Srinagar to prevent people from holding demonstrations against the surge in killings and other human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for peaceful demonstrations and complete shutdown, today, against the stepped up Indian state terrorism in the territory.

The authorities have imposed restrictions in Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Maharaj Ganj, Safakadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud and other areas of Srinagar. The authorities have also deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in the city to prevent people from staging the protests.

Indian police arrested the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, after raiding his residence in Maisuma area of Srinagar, today, and shifted him to Kothi Bagh police station. The occupation authorities had placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, under house arrest, yesterday, while the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, has been under continued house arrest for the past over eight years. The police had already arrested Hurriyat leaders including Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Bilal Siddiqi and Umar Aadil Dar. The detentions are aimed at stopping the leaders from leading the demonstrations.

Meanwhile, terming the statement of Indian army chief on Muslim masajid and schools of Kashmir as naked fascism, the JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar said the remarks actually demonstrate the anti-Muslim mindset of Indian army chief who is acting like a RSS Parcharak.

He said Indian army chief is on daily basis issuing threats to Kashmiris. Some days he comes out with a plan of killing more and more Kashmiris in the name of operation and some days comes out with plans to control masajid and schools to defeat Kashmiris. The occupation authorities have suspended train services in the Kashmir Valley.
