Retired employees demand payment of group insurance and benevolent fund

LARKANA:Members of Government Retired Employees Welfare Association took out a rally and held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Sunday against non-payment of group insurance and benevolence fund amount to the pensioners despite Supreme Court orders.

The protesters included Hamza Khan Kalhoro, Manthar Ali Jatoi, Mohib Ali Laghari, Allah Dino Wagan, Qadir Bux Mashori, Khadim Bhutto, Jan Muhammad Solangi, Imamuddin Babar and others. They were holding placards in their hands and shouted slogans against the Sindh government.

While talking to newsmen, they said that governments in other provinces have already implemented apex court order but Sindh government ruled by the PPP is constantly violating the directions of the highest court openly and daringly for which they should be taken to task.

They said the rulers are constantly and falsely claiming that they have done everything for the welfare of the government servants but what kind of welfare is it that deductions made from their monthly salaries for group insurance are still denied to them. They said that it is a height of injustice that aged ex-employees are running from pillar to post to get treatment and medicines, get their children married and buy a home after rendering over service for life.

They said they cannot ask their sons to buy medicines for them now in this age and in this massive price-hike era. They said a meager pension amount and huge unemployment has already broken the back of poverty-stricken people but the rulers are passing comfortable and lucrative lives which is highly astonishing and undemocratic.

They urged the Chief Justices of Pakistan and Sindh to take notice of the highhandedness and order provincial rulers to pay group insurance and benevolent fund amount to retired employees without further loss of time and save them from passing miserable lives.
