Karachi, January 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): Reacting to the news of increase in prices of petroleum products and electricity, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Anti-Corruption and Cooperative Department, said in a statement on Friday that the rise in the prices of petroleum products and electricity will bring another storm of high prices in daily commodities.
“The people are already burdened by inflation. This action by the federal government will increase the incidence of unemployment and suicide. The federal government should have mercy on the poor people. The coronavirus has already wreaked havoc on the economy,” he said. Dharejo further said that instead of providing relief to the people, the federal government was aggravating their problems which was a very tragic act. “The increase in the prices of petroleum products and electricity by the federal government would only increase public frustration.”
The provincial minister said that the federal government should reconsider its decision regarding increase in prices of petroleum products and electricity. Federal ministers, advisers and spokespersons briefed the selected Prime Minister about the ground realities. Dharejo said that PPP was with the people in every difficult time and will continue to raise its voice against every injustice done to the people.
