Road Checking Campaign to nab tax defaulting vehicles to be launched in December: Mukesh Kumar Chawla

Karachi, November 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Department has decided to launch a vigorous Road Checking Campaign from first week of December to nab the defaulting vehicles of Motor vehicle Tax and to recover the outstanding dues as well. This was decided in a meeting, chaired by Provincial minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla, here in his office today. Secretary ET and NC Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Director Admin Aamir Jamil and other officers also attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting, Director General ET and NC Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that all Regional Directors ET and NC had been directed to constitute number of teams to check and identify tax defaulting vehicles at various points in all districts of their divisions. He added, ‘During proposed Road Checking Campaign, action will be taken against tax defaulting vehicles and use of motor vehicle by second or progressive owners on transfer of ownership letters (open letters)’.

It was further decided that Road Checking Campaign would be launched with the cooperation of Traffic Police Sindh. Addressing the meeting Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla asked the DG ET and NC to launch a massive awareness campaign through electronic and print media for general public on the issue. He also advised the owners of tax defaulting vehicles to deposit their due taxes before launching of Road Checking Campaign to avoid any untoward situation on the roads.
