Armed robbers looted the home of a grain merchant in Shikarpur’s Meena Bazar on Friday, making off with 25 tolas of gold, prize bonds worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, mobile phones, and cash, according to local police.
The incident occurred in the early hours when a group of unidentified men entered the residence of Jai Ram Das, a trader, at gunpoint. The robbers escaped the scene after the heist, police said.
Law enforcement officers rushed to the scene and collected statements from the victim, but the family expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s handling of the case. The robbery underscores the growing concerns over law and order in Shikarpur, where dacoits are increasingly targeting the homes of businessmen without fear of repercussions.
