Rs. 60160.670 Millions recovered from July to April during current financial year: Mukesh Kumar Chawla

Karachi, May 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that during current financial year from July 2018 to April 2019, Sindh Excise Department has recovered Rs. 60160.670 millions in term of various taxes, while in the same period Rs. 53961.765 millions were collected during last fiscal year. So far we have achieved more than 82 percent of the total targets and we are pretty sure that we will be able to get more than 100 percent target before the current financial year ends.

This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Wednesday. Secretary Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Rahim Shaikh , Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed, Shaikh Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting. While briefing the meeting, Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh told that Rs. 6171.334 millions were collected in term of the Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs. 47113.587 millions in Infrastructure Cess and Rs. 335.245 millions in Professional Tax.

He added, ‘ Rs. 165.358 millions were collected in term of the Cotton Fee, Rs. 1899.717 in Property Tax, Rs. 52.472 in Entertainment Duty, while remaining amount was recovered in term of various taxes ‘. On this occasion Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla asked the officers concerned to achieve tax targets before the end of the current financial year and assured them that they would be rewarded for their better performance accordingly. He said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that we were very near to our tax collection targets.
