Rs1bn approved to resolve low gas pressure

QUETTA:Qasim Khan Suri, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, has said that federal government had accorded approval to the release of Rs 1 billion for addressing the issue of low gas pressure in Quetta.

Special package for northern Balochistan would also be announced after southern Balochistan, he said while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Wednesday. On the occasion, General Manager, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited Madani Siddiqui, Central Deputy General Secretary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Khadim Hussain, Advisor to Chief Minister for Quetta Development Authority and Urban Planning and Development Department Mubeen Khan Khilji, President PTI central region Dr. Muneer Baloch, General Secretary Bari Bareach, Asif Tareen and others were also present.

Suri said that gas pipeline laid some 40 years ago in Quetta city were in a very dilapidated condition which could not stand gas pressure, hence, in order to address the issue of low gas pressure in Quetta city, federal government had approved Rs 1 billion.

He said COVID-19 pandemic could be controlled provided preventive and precautionary measures were taken. He added, “Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced Rs 6 billion for the development of southern Balochisan and special package for uplifting Northern Balochistan would also be announced by the federal government.
