On the occasion of Global Sanitation Workers Day, a special event was organized here in Islamabad on Tuesday by the Pakistan Workers Federation and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Labour Union to pay tribute to the invaluable services of sanitation workers.

The event was attended by prominent labour leaders including CDA Labour Union Chief Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, newly elected General Secretary of the Pakistan Workers Federation Asad Mehmood, Saleem Bhatti, Tariq Sharif, Muhammad Ilyas Tufail, A.J. Hans, and a large number of sanitation workers.

Speaking on the occasion, the union leaders highlighted that today marks the nationwide observance of the international day dedicated to sanitation workers, recognizing their essential contributions to society.

They emphasized that sanitation workers continue to face numerous challenges, particularly due to outsourcing practices, which deprive them of basic rights and job security.

CDA Labour Union Chief Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen stated that the union has always served all employees without discrimination of race, colour, or religion. He noted that the union successfully secured Christmas and Easter allowances for Christian employees, ensured quota-based promotions, and facilitated the provision of various other allowances. He pledged that all remaining issues faced by sanitation workers would be resolved on a priority basis.
