Sanjrani for Enhancing Trade, Economic Links with Uzbekistan

Islamabad, May 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has underlined the need to enhance trade volume between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and explore possibilities of exploiting the trade and investment potential for benefit of the people of two sides.

He expressed these views in a meeting with Uzbek envoy Furkar Sadikov at the Parliament House on Monday morning. The Chairman Senate, while welcoming the Uzbek Ambassador, said that Pakistan highly values it bilateral relations with Uzbekistan and desires to further expand linkage in different sectors.

Both sides deliberated upon the need to chalkout a viable roadmap for improving bilateral parliamentary, trade, investment and economic cooperation and emphasized for constructive dialogue in this regard.

Regarding Parliamentary linkages, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, observed that Parliaments of the two sides can better interact with each other through frequent exchange of visits to create understanding and build long lasting relationship. He said that parliamentary diplomacy can pave the way for enhanced parliamentary cooperation and for this purpose the parliamentary friendship groups in the respective parliaments have to play a key role.

The Chairman Senate said that both the countries have supported each other at international and regional forums and there is need to build synergies for durable peace in the region. He said that both Pakistan and Uzbekistan want regional peace to flourish as the path towards socio-economic development passes through peace.

Uzbek Ambassador thanked Chairman Senate for warm welcome. He agreed with the views of Chairman Senate and said that lasting peace in the region would lead towards a shared prosperity and growth. The Chairman Senate expressed his well wishes to the Parliament, People and government of Uzbekistan and hoped that both sides would continue to work together for creating a favourable environment to take bilateral relations to new heights and open up new vistas of cooperation.
