Saquib Fayyaz Magoon former Vice president FPCCI said in his speech as a Guest of Honour in Seminar on Halal and Safety of Food at PCSIR

Karachi, February 06, 2018 (PPI-OT):There is emerging segment of Halal Trade of 2.77 trillion but Unfortunately, More than 80% of the world Halal trade is done by non-Muslim countries, both in the West and East, who, by utilizing the Halal Brand to their economic benefit, have become the biggest exporters of Halal products. In the West, USA, Brazil, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France are the biggest Halal suppliers.

In the East, Thailand is the biggest exporters of Halal certified products, Singapore and India are also the leading Halal products suppliers to the world. Owner and Consumer of Halal are Muslims but due to weak regulatory system of Halal certification Muslims countries are not getting good share from this trillions of Dollars trade globally.

There is very Good chance for Pakistan as originally we already as a Muslim country following halal food requirements and regulation but there is need to Develop or established Halal products standards and regularized the system of halal certification So our Halal products can be acceptable in Market, although we have good Halal food certification bodies but its need to be further improvement, by this we can get Sizeable share of market and can increase our exports in this sector and can earn more and more foreign exchange.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon appreciated the role of PCSIR in this sector as they are testing Products and facilitating halal Product industries. Chairman PCSIR Dr. Shahzad Alam said that PCSIR are ready to cooperate with industries if they need to do any R and D work or testing of their Products, So they can Use our facility, even if we don’t have that kind of facility or equipment which they required, Please tell us, I will try my best to upgrade our facility or equipment to meet their requirements, He said our main moto is to support our industries by which our economy can boost.

Chairman Pakistan Artificial Leather and Lining Merchants Association, Shabbir Mansha Churra said that PCSIR should established their Mobile or small lab in Custom house, So if customs want to test the samples at import stage, can be tested immediately otherwise its take more than one week if they send samples to PCSIR, So importer bear the heavy demurrage Charges.

Director General PCSIR Dr. Khaula Shireen said this seminar is very important to find out the way to enter in Halal Products Global’s market and we can move forward with the cooperation of Private sector, in last She thanks to all the Speakers and Guest of Seminar for attending this seminar on very important subject which is need of time.
