ISLAMABAD:Saudi Arabia has provided twenty-five thousand food packages to Pakistan for distribution amongst the neediest groups during the holy month of Ramadan.

A ceremony to this effect was held at Saudi Embassy in Islamabad on Monday. This will benefit about one hundred and seventy five thousand people in nine districts of Sindh, three districts of Punjab and earthquake victims of district Roundu of Gilgit-Baltistan. The food bags will be distributed under the supervision of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.

Each package weighing 97 kilograms contains eighty kilogram of flour, cooking oil of five liters, five kg of sugar, five kg of Daal Chana and two kilograms of dates. Speaking on the occasion, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki said the food bags are a gift from Saudi Arabia to the brotherly country of Pakistan.

He said Saudi Arabia wants to take relations with Pakistan to new height. In his remarks, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Akhtar Nawaz said both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy warm relationship and these relations are deep rooted in common faith and culture. He said Saudi Arabia has always helped Pakistan in difficult times.
