SBEP’s standing committee holds meeting on ‘teacher training’

Karachi, January 04, 2018 (PPI-OT):The Standing Committee of Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) for “Reading and Teachers Training Programs in Sindh” held its 6th meeting on 3rd Jan, 2018 at the program office in Karachi. The Committee reviewed progress of Sindh Reading Program (SRP) a component of SBEP, and USAID funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) on the transition and integration of component’s various interventions into School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh administered trainings and curriculum related institutions.

The meeting was chaired by the Program Director SBEP Mr. Abdul Wahab Soomro and was attended by the Mr. John Pollock, Education Officer, USAID, and representatives from Sindh Reading Program (SRP), Pakistan Reading Project (PRP), Reforms Support Unit (RSU), Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA), Provincial Institute of Teachers Education (PITE), Directorate of Teachers Training in Sindh, Non Formal Education Directorate and the Program team of SBEP.

The forum decided that the SRP and PRP shall continue support to the School Education and Literacy Department on the improvement of early grade reading and assessment, non-formal education and teachers training through their respective interventions.
