Jakarta The Jakarta Fleet Command has found the second black box (Cockpit Voice Recorder) from a Lion Air flight which crashed off the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia, on 29 October 2018.
All 189 passengers and crew members on board were killed when Flight JT610 fell into Karawang waters of West Java minutes after taking off from Jakarta for the short journey to Pangkal Pinang.
“We found (the CVR) at 9:10 a.m.,” Spokesman for the Fleet Command Lt.Col Agung Nugroho said Monday, adding that the recorder, which was found eight meters deep (26ft) under mud on the sea floor, was retrieved and kept in a searching vessel.
The first black box of the doomed Lion Air flight was found last November, buried in debris on the floor of the Java Sea. Officials had said then that it could take up to six months to analyze data from the black boxes.
